Would really appreciate any recommendations, my son has just started reading on his own - every morning when he wakes up we find him engrossed in a story. Have only bought 'The owl who was afraid of the dark' series so far, would love some more ideas. Nothing too scary please!

Take him to the library and just let him browse. Mine got hooked on the Boys Rule Series. A lot of picture books have surprisingly simple text, and can be very satisfying for them to finish 'a whole book' at that age.

My son read all of Allan Alhberg's Happy Families series at that age.

Thank you both so much - these look like great recommendations, right up his street.
