I am planning on running a Carnegie Medal group at our school this year.

Have you ever done this or had a child in a group ?

Do you have any advice or tips ?

I have run a few in my time. Have you looked at the website? There are some ideas on there (www.carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/shadowingsite/teachers/resources/carnegie09_activities.pdf). Also if you haven't already you should have a look at the longlist on their website too. If you have a group already you could start them on the books from the list. Some children are not always keen to talk about books so rather than have a group discussion I'd have activities around the covers and blurbs to start with, then once they start reading you can have more activities around the stories themselves.
