Book suggestions for answering THAT question!!!!

My DD aged 4 has asked the question today about how she got in my tummy and I'm at a bit of a loss what to tell her. I've always been quite truthful when she asked about how babies get out, why we have hair etc, but I'm truly stumped.
I've looked on line and there's hundreds of books, so do you have any suggestions of good ones please????

Mine found out on some TV program at my mum when she was 3 that mums have little eggs inside, that sometimes grows. She doesn't yet understand the dad bit. But I told her that you need one. She thinks that the eggs are stored there and that she already met her sister before in my tummy, but she was the bigger one, so got out first. She is almost 5, baby due in a few weeks. It is close enough from the truth.

People on here recommand the "there is a house in mummy's tummy" or something similar, but your DD might already be too grown up for that. Mine is and likes logical explanations. i.e. I have a tube from my mouth/boobs to baby to feed him, she made that up alone because she thinks it is logical...

DD has a book called How Did I Begin which is quite good, with pictures etc.
Some of the reviewers on amazon suggest it is more for older children but I'd disagree, dd had it about age 4, and I thought the tone was just about right, although the text is a little twee at times (talks about Mummy & Daddy having a 'special cuddle'). But that might be partly because dd is a farm child so had a fair idea of the fact that you need a male and female animal to get a kid/calf/fertile egg etc (like when escaped billy in with nanny goat on heat causes general panic )
It also talks about twins & how they happen which I liked as dd has both identical & non-identical twin friends.

Mollymummy77 another good recommendation is "How are babies made" - age 3+ from Usborne. Its a flip up book which shows them pics and everything. It talks about sperm and then eggs but not obviously how they are both implanted (too young at that age) but really good book. My DD who is 5 finds is really good.

booklady2 - I didn't like the Usborne book that we had (a different one I think) for exactly that reason - it didn't explain in any way how the sperm got to the eggs - which IMO is a recipe for worries and misunderstanding. (eg playground myths about belly buttons, kissing etc)

Surely much better to explain properly when they are too young to be embarrassed or to make a big thing of it?

Another question we had afterwards from DS was ;' How do the seeds come out of my willy as I tried and nothing came out?' so we got a book called 'where willy went' another good book but as you have a DD you probably will be spared that question!

my DD asked that question yesterday out of the blue she has never really asked how a baby gets out so gave me a double whammy of "mummy...how does a baby get in ladies tummy and than how does it get out??" i mumbled for a minute while she sat staring intently waiting for the answer and then tried to explain about the comfy area in ladies body etc and i am thinking a book might do it better my DD turned 4 today too so it must be trappings of the age

Thank you for your suggestions, I saw the 'How babies are made', but she was very specific about how she got in there and how she got out!! I did start to talk about eggs and seeds, but was so flustered, I didn't explain it very well!

Definitely agree with the 'Mummy Laid an Egg' book, used this with my son when he was just coming up to 3, he thought the book was funny and soon stopped asking awkward questions so it must have worked.
