my godson, aged 8, nearly 9, likes Just William, and I was wondering whether I should riff on the theme and send him Molesworth too. But then I wondered whether it was too old for him.

anyone with DSs enjoying Molesworth? how old?

bumping for you - think I was 10 but not quite sure.

About 40 to really appreciate it I reckon. But for the right person, 8 upward should be fine.
I love Moleworth but DD1 (12) and DH (41) don't find it funny at all.
And DH actually went to St Custard's.

I think he'll be fine - he can also rediscover Molesworth when he's a bit older and find out about the subtext etc.

Just make sure he doesn't copy the spelling.

I think that they need to be able to spell to find it funny. On which basis, DS (10) will be waiting a while.

However, his new best friend is the spitting image of Fotherington Thomas, which has made my week, especially as DS's spelling strongly resembles that of Molesworth.
