Readers for 5 yr old -suggestions please.

I'm after buying some readers for my 5.5 yr old....we are Brits in Italy, so she has had no formal schooling yet, she is finishing nursery this month and will start elementary school in September. (I'm not sure what they do as regards reading skills)
Always been a prolific listener-to-books and can recognise about 30 words from books we read together. I did buy a set of the Oxford Reading thingy books (Floppy the dog and co) but they are a sort of "taster" set with 4 different levels, and I can see that at the moment she can only cope with the Level 1 and possibly Level 2 sets...

I'm watching another couple of those sets on ebay at the moment, just wondered what other readers Mners would recommend?

the trouble with the ORT is that they used sight recognition.

I like the jolly phnonics books, ruth miskin books (there is a set for sale on red house now) and songbirds. We hve also got some bob books from amazon,but they can be a bit american
