need new bedtime sory ideas for 20mo

As above, really. Have a few Lynley Dodd and Julia Donaldson books, which are favourites, but after some new ones. Not too long, and rhyming is good. Also have Dear Zoo, Hungry Caterpillar,Brown Bear, poppy Cat. Need to stop the boredom of reading the same ones before it starts - not for me, but dp!

Hi Hophop - I had a thread like this a little while ago as was looking for inspiration for DS who is also 20 months.

The ones he loves best are:
Duck In The Truck - Jez Alborough
Little Witch/Little Wizard (witch one is best!) Ben Cort.

I'm Hungry - Rod Campbell
Wibbly Pig Books
Big Red Bath
He also really likes the peppa pig books handed down from DD.

The "busy books" by Rebecca Finn went down well here, such as Busy Builders
Hooray for Fish
Dig Dig Digging, Emergency and Choo Choo Clickety Clack

You can get a scaled down board book of Chimp and Zee which is a bit shorter.

We keep trying to introduce new stories, but it has to be one of those in rotation. Yawn.

Shark in the Park by Nick Sharratt. We use a kitchen roll tube as the telescope (although my ds is a little older than yours).

DS was happy listening to the Grufallo / the tiger who came for tea from a very young age, although i think they are usually considered to be for older children. I find that anything that rhymes is good.

Only another 4 months til birthday so ask for books as presents.
Save your money and help people out who want to buy presents but don't want to clutter your house.

I always say this on these threads but my DS loves, loves, loves Maisy books. Ahlberg and Donaldson, Tiger who came to Tea and there is a lovely Ten in the Bed book by Penny Dale which is fun and has beautiful illustrations

Have been using the library too. Gruffalo is loved here, have a few julia donaldsons already, and hairy maclary. I think it's more dp that needs new material!
I have a plan to stop clutter, charmargot - after one set of grandparents bought a pop up playhouse, a swing(for five years and up) and a mini rocking horse for christmas I am saying nothing bigger that one cubic foot without prior planning permisssion! Thankfully only the house thing is here - I wasn't prepared last year, this time I am!

Think I will list some of these and take it to the next libray visit to check them out. I bought Ted falls out of bed on ebay for a good price last week, so I'll try that too. Thanks for all you suggestions.

"Good Days, Bad days" by Laurence and Catherine Anholt. Not much story, but lots of nice pictures about everyday things to look at and talk about with a little one (going to the playground in the rain, mummy washing up, going to see grandpa etc). My favourite for this age group as you can talk about different things every time, and you don't have to look at the whole book each time if they don't have a very long concentration span!

Goat & Donkey books by Simon Puttock and Russell Julian (Strawberry Sunglasses the favourite by far)

Mr Pusskins by Sam Lloyd

That Rabbit belongs to Emily Brown by Cressida Cowell (Emily Brown and the Thing getting very popular too)

Tatty Ratty by Helen Cooper (she does loads of other books too I think, like Pumpkin Soup, tho my two not so keen on this)

Winnie the Witch books by Korky Paul

My girls also love a book called You Choose by Pippa Goodhart and illustrated by Nick Sharratt - they never, ever seem to tire of it. Not a story book, but great for talking and imagination.

We have too many books...
