Can you recommend some lovely non fiction books that would suit a 5 year old boy?

Further to my reluctant reader thread I thought I'd get my 5 year old able reader some non fiction books.

There seems to be so many so could do with some recommendations.

Thanks

Not really, but am interested in this, as want the same for dd...
We do have lots of the Usborne factual ones which she likes to read....Under the Sea, Planet Earth, Volcanoes etc...
There are those scienc-y ones as well....buggery- can't remember what they're called....the writer's pseudonym is Aliki I think.....

Do you means books to read to him? or for him to read?

What kind of things is he interested in?
trucks?
space/planets
dinosaurs
nature
animals
the body
science
etc?

For him to read but he is a good reader-horrid Henry/easier Roald Dahl level. But being only 5 he needs pictures and an attractive format iykwim.

My kids are 5 and 7 and both love them. We haven't had any for a while (get them in library) so can't remember how easy/hard the actual writing is.

DK Readers are great.
They have four different levels. I have linked to level 1 which may be a bit easy. DD reads level 2 of this series and loves them.
They are fantastic books

good idea MrsR, the DK ones are a big hit with DS too
