Which Alcott sister were you?

I was Jo of course until she married that revolting Bhaer man. Then it had to be Amy, sily girl though she was.

I wanted to be Jo, but my older sisters would only allow me to be Beth or Amy, as they bagged Meg and Jo. So, early death or spoilt-bratness? Hmm....

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 14/04/2009 17:24

Jo. but not quite as clumsy

FromGirders · 14/04/2009 17:25

Damn it, I was Meg. Still am

mankyscotslass · 14/04/2009 17:25

Jo, but with a bit of Meg thrown in!

fishie · 14/04/2009 17:26

i wanted to be jo but i suspect am amy.

LadyOfWaffle · 14/04/2009 17:28

Beth, always Beth

BecauseImWorthIt · 14/04/2009 17:46

Definitely Jo.

dizietsma · 14/04/2009 17:51

Jo

dizietsma · 14/04/2009 17:55

"until she married that revolting Bhaer man"

Ditto. I married my Laurie. Travesty that she didn't.

francagoestohollywood · 14/04/2009 17:57

I wanted to be Jop. But also Beth. I have a split personality

fossa · 14/04/2009 17:57

Ha, I knew practically everyone would say Jo. Loisa May Alcott based Jo on herself.

Im a bit Meg, a bit Amy but without the 'being pretty' bit. a bit Jo, but no Beth.

janeite · 14/04/2009 17:57

Jo without a doubt. But Mr Bhaer is lovely, even though I still always have a little sigh when Jo refuses Laurie.

On a tangent - DD1 would have been Laurie, had she been DS!

ScummyMummy · 14/04/2009 18:01

Don't know which I am but Jo is the best one, easili. Bhaer v v v v strange. He gets a troubled kid to beat him at one point, iirc.

ScummyMummy · 14/04/2009 18:02

easili?! easily, I mean

DisasterEggs · 14/04/2009 18:04

I'd like t be as good and nice as Beth. But I have neither.
Probably Amy without the prettyness. Although I do have a nice nose.

TheOldestCat · 14/04/2009 18:06

In my pious early teens I liked to think I was Beth. But I was probably a mixture of Amy and Jo. Agree, Jo definitely the best one, especially when she cuts off her hair.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 14/04/2009 19:23

Jo, of course. But she should have married Laurie.

TheFallenMadonna · 14/04/2009 19:26

March, no?

Not mad on any of them really.

onebatmother · 14/04/2009 19:27

Was there a slutty one?

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 14/04/2009 19:51

Nope. Though I always thought Amy might have been a bit of a goer if she had had the chance.

onebatmother · 14/04/2009 21:33

Oh No! I don't have and Al(cott)ter ego then! Amy was all below the surface iirc. Whereas I was quite upfront and personal.

It might have sent the narrative in unexpected directions. 'Now Jo, you know full well there's no rubbing-alcohol to mend that scratch you got clambering over the brier-hedge! Onebat drank it all weeks ago!'

MoominMymbleandMy · 16/04/2009 00:33

Jo, naturally. Who married Laurie in a parallel universe.

Ever since I read Jasper Fforde I've always thought Amy would be on a BookWorld hitlist.
