Dig, Dig, Digging
Mungo & Space Pirates
Night Pirates

all hugely popular with ds1

ohdearwhatamess · 24/02/2009 21:28

Mungo and Picture Book Pirates, not Space Pirates (too much wine and cbeebies here)

librarymice · 25/02/2009 16:10

I was convinced to buy the Happy Families series after so many people raved about them here. I didn't need much convincing, you lot just pushed me over the edge! And it has been a success as my ds is going through the lot by reading one every night!
I badly want to subscribe to Puffin Post too but he is only 6, even if he is a good reader. So I am still unsure about that one.

The Little Red Train stories by Benedict Blaythwayt - they've been DD's favourites for a while.

OMG - I've just discovered there's a Little Red Train JIGSAW BOOK! She'd be in seventh heaven with that.

bodiddly · 11/03/2009 21:32

cazzybabs I have just googled the story box magazines as I have never heard of them. Are they really good? Are they just a basic magazine or something a little more special?

bodiddly · 12/03/2009 13:24

bump

librarymice · 13/03/2009 10:07

No they are really good. They are produced by a French publisher, Bayard, which publishes lots of kids' magazines in France, and Storybox is made of translaetd bits from their magazines. They are of much higher quality than most of the ones you get here. Even the paper is better. If you LOs watch CITV and know SamSam, that's where he comes from!

thanks librarymice - I am tempted but not sure if I have the money for a full year's subscription at the moment .. it is a shame they don't do it for 6 months!
