The Hardback edition of Kit William's Masquerade

We had this in our house when I was young but has since gone missing (methinks my mother gave it away to a jumble sale )

But I have ordered another copy for my family to cherish...Can't wait for it to arrive, such glorious illustrations.

Anybody else remember this book?

For some reason the Hare jewellery shown on the back cover used to scare the bejebus out of me

Yes, I got it for my Christmas one year when the jewel was still "at large". Gorgeous illustrations and I had fun looking for the hare in every picture.

Years later I bought the book with the solution in it. I'm still none the wiser .

Apparently there was an exhibition of the pictures back in the day. I'd have loved to see that.

Oh same here, that would have been fantastic to see.

I did order the paperback version a few years back but it just wasn't the same as the original hardback...far too small

I just can't wait to be enchanted by the illustrations all over again!

Saw that book in charity shop a few times recently. A nice new copy is far nicer, I was tempted to get it though for the pics.

Weren't you talking about children's books on another thread? Check out your charity shops, I got some fab stuff today for dc.

I was upset when the rabbit or hare was found. Thought I'd one day break the code and be rich!

wow, I loved this book, used to spend hours and hours looking at it and I agree the rabbit thing was spooky - not sure why but in fact the whole book was scary. Remind me of some of the pictures? was there was where a hill looked like a rabbit shape? my dad always said it was Cley Hill near Warminster.
