Can anyone recommend a book full of aeroplanes/helicopters for my 18mo?

He's obsessed. And I'd like to find a book he'd like full of the damned things (I want to like it too... is there such a thing as a charming book about aeroplanes?)

this one? Might be a bit babyish though?

If you're anywhere near Duxford (Cambs), the Imperial War Musuem is well worth visiting with an aeroplane obsessed ds. It also has a huge bookshop with every aeroplane book you could ever need (for adults or children).

Ds1 has enjoyed going there since he was about the same age as your ds.

Wow, that sounds brilliant! Alas we are in the west country, so a bit far away. I'll bear it in mind any time we might go east though.

Thanks for the book tip too, I'll order that one now, and the train one (his other obsession... COO COOOO!)

This may sound a bit wierd, but have you considered the I Spy books - you get lots of pics of whatever you are supposed to be spying, and a fact or two as well, I think.

Ds1 particularly was mad keen on planes, trains, cars, buses, lorries etc, so we had several of these books - he didn't often spy the things in the books, but loved looking at them.

I Spy at the airport

When he's a bit older, top trumps cards are great too - they are fun to play, and encourage reading and arithmatic.

Not sure if you're still looking but my train/plane mad boys love these books

What about budgie the little helicopter by fergie, is that still in print?

Also I have a BIG usborne touchy feely book of trucks and one of diggers for DS, maybe there is an aviation version.

Richard Scary's A Day at the Airport is good. My DS also enjoys The Little Red Train series as well as (yawn) the Thomas books.

If you're in the West Midlands, you could give Thomas Land a go in the summer. DS1 (also train/airplane/car obsessed) went there last year and he loved it.

How about the 'Harold' book from the Thomas the Tank Engine range?

Or how about this one (if a bit on the old side)

And this sticker book might be fun.

oh be careful with Thomas (from someone who has spent a good part of the last 8 years reading Thomas and would happily never see the happy little engine again )
