I used to have a book about a family that lived on a canal boat and a horse would pull them along the tow path. The girl had a party on the canal boat and everyone loved it.

The pictures were what I remember the most, lovely soft oil pastel/paintings, just gorgeous.

does anyone recognise this?

circa 1995 and aged 5 - 9

I think it's called Beetlejuice, can't find it on Google, cos there's too much TV stuff coming up. Give me a minute and I'll try to find a link.

Wrong name - it's called Snowy. Here it is!

It was - I 'know' the lady in the book by sight, have occasionally chatted to her as we wait for gp, and see her around my city sometimes! It is lovely!

I love it too - I don't have a copy - should get one as we walk that part of the canal now and again - the same canal goes behind my house and I go running there (when it's not so cold and wet!).
