Should hold which books?

I am trying to compile a list of fabulous books every child (any age) should have - so what's on your bookshelf, what do you love and what do your children love.

Oh Mrs Boring,"The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark" is a LOVELY book.

For older children especially if interested in history I would reccomend Rosemary Sutcliffe.I LOVE her books even as a so called adult!!

I agree with all the other posters - some really brilliant children's books!

I can't remember any of the names of the stories but when I was a child I read a number of books by a lady called Alison Uttley (think that's how it's spelt) and I really, really loved them.
