For those of you whose DC might be interested, there is a new dramatisation starting on Monday at 7pm. Looks quite promising - it has been done by Deborah Moggach.

I'm going to watch it! I think it's on Mon to Fri this week at 7pm.

madlentileater · 04/01/2009 17:46

oh good, I thought I'd missed it, thanks.
(often covered in literacy, btw)

IdrisTheDragon · 05/01/2009 18:27

Bumping this - it is a very good version. DH although not involved in the dramatisation itself is involved with work involving Anne Frank and has seen it.

KatyMac · 05/01/2009 18:28

Where?

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 06/01/2009 20:07

BBC1 - 7pm. I've watched two episodes now - it's great.

it's fab

cannot take tamsin grieg seriously tho, not that she isn't doing a sterling job . . .

mysterymoniker · 06/01/2009 20:09

(it's also on bbc hd, free on freesat)

roisin · 06/01/2009 20:14

I think it's very good. I haven't been able to persuade ds1 to watch it though.

Fauve · 06/01/2009 20:18

There's a new BBC-linked paperback out too - much better than was available - with little pix, ie child-friendly. Previous editions were IMO a bit intimidating for young readers. Roisin, dd is reading it and doesn't want to watch until read!

roisin · 06/01/2009 20:35

Fauve - that sounds interesting: I can usually persuade ds1 to read pretty much anything if I time my offerings/suggestions carefully!
I've been searching on Amazon and am not sure which one it is. Could you tell me if it is this one or maybe this one?

Or something else entirely?

IdrisTheDragon · 06/01/2009 21:45

Roisin - the version you want is www.annefrank.org.uk/shop/index.php/fuseaction/shop.product/category_id/2/product_id/43

DH works for the Anne Frank Trust and doesn't know why it is sold out through them but it should be possible to get it elsewhere

IdrisTheDragon · 06/01/2009 21:45

Bother - I am normally good at links

roisin · 06/01/2009 21:53

Thanks Idris, and I've now managed to find it on Amazon. (It was very hard to dig it up on Amazon, I don't know why, so I'm posting the link here in case it's useful for anyone else.)

It's here on Amazon

roisin · 06/01/2009 21:54

Oh, I've seen why now. The wallies at Amazon have not put "Anne Frank" in the title of the book!

Fauve · 07/01/2009 11:42

Yes, that's the one. I've spent years looking for a child-friendly edition - ds is still v bitter that I 'made' him read a very full, unedited, ie boring, edition which the local library recommended

roisin · 09/01/2009 21:41

Did you cry? I cried.
I thought it was very well done.

princessmel · 09/01/2009 21:43

Really really moving. dh ( yes dh not ds) didn't even who she was so I'm glad he saw it with me.
