Kid's horror books

I've seen a selection of children's horror books and they look quite impressive (judging by the cover!) and I thought they'd make nice stocking fillers but does anyone know what they're like? are they actually scarey? spooky?

Titles? Age of children?

Malory Blackman has a new horror one out but I was very disappointed with it tbh. Neil Gaiman is worth looking out for. Darren Shan is the big name of kids' horror at the mo: they are gory and not desperately well-written but very appealing to boys of around 10-14 depending on their reading level.

there are quite a few out there at the moment other horror books aimed at young teens are
Darren Shan and Anthony Horrowitz

Depends for what age but ds read the R. L. Stine Goosebumps books when he was 7 and loved them but the covers are scarier than the actual stories.
