I used to love Judy Blume books when i was a child and so I got a couple of them out of the library for my 8 year old DS1 but he says they are too girly... so i just wondered if anyone knew of a more boy orientated author who was similar?

What about Fudge and Super Fudge? There are some good judy Blume for boys

or what about Beverly Cleary? We bought dd (7) a Ramona box set for her biday and she's getting through those v quickly! Henry Huggins is a character in those books too. check this out www.beverlycleary.com/books/henry_books.html

Gordon Korman has written some great books (not exclusively for boys) but are about a 2 boys and thier mates at a boarding school . MacDonald Hall I think

I always thought Louis Sacher was a good author for boys.

I seem to remember reading a few Paul Zindel books at around the same time I read Blume. 'My darling, my hamburger', 'pardon me you're stepping on my eyeball'.

So he might be a more boysih equivalent.

oh, for over 8s though, I think. Memory hazy.

Michael Lawrence's books about Jiggy McClure. DS1 adored the humour at about the age of 8.

Paula Danziger has some boy orientated books for younger boys - Make Like a Tree and Leave, Earth to Matthew, Everyone Else's Parents Said Yes.

Check which books they are though as most of hers are aimed at slightly older girls.
