Recommedations, please! Robust 'Lift the Flap' books for 1 YO...

It is DD's first b'day soon and I'd like to get her some Lift-the-Flaps books.

She is currently LOVING her Usborne Animal Hide and Seek book. She has a copy of 'There's a Monster in my House' but I find the flaps a bit papery IYSWIM.

We have exhausted the library. In fact, she has even broken off a flap - although it was hanging by a thread, honest - have been putting off returning that one!

Does anyone have any recommendations for robust books which can stand up to toddler 'reading'.

I would second the board book version of DEar Zoo. Also tehre are some "peekaboo" books by Dorling kindersley - "dress up peekaboo", "Playtime peekaboo" etc. big whole-page flaps to lift. they have come apart eventually but after a lot of lifting, chewing etc. and easily stuck back on with tape!

not lift the flaps, but also popular - Noisy Noisy Pirates. think there is a mermaid one too. button to press on each page that makes a sound. ds loved that one.

Thanks WTWTW. We already have that one (resides at Grandma's house) but DD struggles to open the flaps as they seem to be too tight a fit - although she may get better as she gets more dextrous.

I might have to bring it home for bedtime though, night after night of 'Where's Daisy/Curly/Wooly/Clucky?' is getting a wee bit tiresome...

Busy Park is more robust than Dear Zoo IME. dd loved it (v v v dull for parents, though)

The Maisy board books are pretty robust - the ones where you open doors, windows etc.

There are some with felt flaps that stand up to wear and tear a bit better...goes off to rootle in the toy box...
DS has one called Peekaboo, where are you? by Georgie Birkett. There are more in the range. He's given the spine a good gnaw but flaps look good as new!

My DD loved "No bed without Ted" (sorry, can't do links, crap at them!). She's always been very 'energetic' too, but this book stood up to her.
Would also 2nd the "Noisy, Noisy" books - DD can't get enough of them xxx

I agree with Lio that the Busy books are quite robust, DS loved Busy Airport and Busy Garden.

He also had a fabric book that he loved about sheep that we got from John Lewis which fabric/felt flaps and different textures of fabric on the pictures.

Thanks, bran, I actually signed back onto this thread because I felt I didn't do a good enough job of promoting Busy Park: they are not just flaps, but moving parts, and v good except for the 'fish going round in a circle' one, which is too hard. But the tree one and see saw and rainbow and gate are all v good.

My DS has one called 'Go Maisie Go' which he has loved for 18 months - he's nw 2.5. It has loads of sturdy flaps and lots to talk through on every page i.e trains, planes, colours, shapes etc. If you can cope with the weird human-animal hybrids of cartoon mice wearing clothes then it's fab, esp for boys (sorry, I know some girls like trains and fire engines too!)

It is my staple 'read this in the car' book as I know he can't destroy it!

Been shopping...DK Farm Peekaboo; Grrr! (Noisy Noisy); Red, Blue Peekaboo; and Busy Railway. Oooh, I do love internet shopping!
