Book Recommendations for Year 4/5

Hi all,

I’m starting my first teaching job this September and want to build up a little classroom reading area, mainly using charity shop finds.

I’ll likely have a Year 4/5 class in an independent school, but it’ll still be mixed ability, so I’m looking for anything from easier reads to more confident readers.

Any recommendations for must-have books or authors would be amazing!

The Lemony Snicket Series of Unfortunate Events books.
The White Giraffe by Lauren St John. There are more books in that series.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid books by Jeff Kinney.
Warrior Cats books.
Jeremy Strong books eg My Brother's Famous Bottom.
Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransom.
Amelia Fang books.
Isadora Moon books by Harriet Muncaster.
Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan.

Oh the Places You Go, The Lorax and Horton Hears a Who by Dr Seuss for less confident readers.

The Artemis Fowl books
Some good nonfiction/magazines like National Geographic Kids
