detective stories for 9-year-old boy

ds has just really enjoyed a collection of Saxby Smart stories about a boy detective. Does anyone know of any detective stories suitable for a 9-year-old (nearly 10) ? Not the Usborne, solve-it-yourself puzzles, but more of a story book? I would say Agatha Christie is a bit too advanced for him, but he is a very good reader. I'd be grateful for any ideas. Thanks!

What about Sherlock Holmes? Fairly short and straighforward.

The Anthony Horowitz Diamond Brother Books. think this is the latest one
My DS really enjoys them.

Thanks for those ideas. Ds is reading Snakehead at the moment, so an Anthony Horowitz would go down well, I think.

Malcolm Saville's "Lone Pine" Mysteries have aged pretty well.

He might like the Caroline Lawrence Roman Mysteries series.

Yes, I know you hate them Cod. I have always wondered why. The last few in particular are very good imo.

Diamond Bros lovely, but more "junior" than Alex Rider. He might be disappointed if he's Snakehead-level.

Justin Richards's Invisible Detective series

my ds (age 9) loves the Alex Ryder and Roman mystery books.

Thanks, all.
I had forgotten I bought Emil and the Detectives from a charity shop last year, so I'll dig that out.
Nowt wrong with old books: I'm reading Just William to ds at the moment, and they are still really funny stories.
The Invisible Detective looks promising, thanks.
