Anyone know a good 'What makes it go' type book suitable for a 6 year old.

DD loves my old 'what makes it go' book which has double page spreads with cutaway diagrams and explanations on all sorts of things (from a steamship to a moving staircase). But being as I'm 38, its a bit dated! Car engine still ok, but record player less relevant, and telephones really don't look like that anymore Anyone know a good modern alternative? Or is life just too complicated now?

The Way Things Work is very good and has a nice sense of humour

That looks like just the thing - many thanks. Love the idea of the woolly mammoth too! I like books like this where we can sit down & look at it together (& I can learn something too )
