I thought I'd try getting some copies for my dcs as I have fond memories of these books-and the beautiful illustrations-didn't realise they would be so hard to get hold of due to being out of print.

The original hardbacks on amazon are really expensive.

I assumed they'd be thought of as a classic and still in print-I remember the books being in our school book corner, they were my favourite-along with Olga da Polga!

Nigella, that's a lovely story-you lucky thing!Keep that box safe,it must be very special to you-and will be worth a lot!

Psychobabble-I have them on watch, but will be scanning around for them-found a site that sells old books!

I took it for granted that they'd still be in print!

you could try www.abebooks.co.uk - they have a lot of books that are out of print.

I'd forgotten all about those. Used to love them as a child.

I managed to get a copy of 'The church mice and the moon' and my ds loves it!

I still have mine and read them to dts. I loved how, in each picture, there is something going on in every corner. I even called my cat Sampson but he wasn't lovely and ginger and he definitely didn't have brotherly love for mice.
