..for ds who is coming up to 11 - I loved it and he loves birds, but it's quite gritty isn't it,as I recall,and of course sad..

I didn't read the book but thought the film was very sad. Actually my ds loves birds and is 10. Might be an idea for him.

Book and film brilliant.
It is quite gritty, but not as gritty as I considered it to be when I read it initially, if that makes sense?
