Aidan Chambers has died

Aidan Chambers died last Sunday.

I gobbled up his books as a teen. He's the only person I have ever written fan mail to, and I still have his lovely reply - typed - tucked inside my copy of Now I Know. Such excellent teen/young adult fiction. I feel I might reread the whole "Dance" series again this summer.

I'm more than a bit sad.

Oh have just checked his website as the name rang a bell and seeing the name Melanie Prosser from ‘The Present Takers’ has given me a Proustian rush back to reading it as a child.
