My DD is 6, turns 7 in August.
She a keen reader and I’m looking for new books that she can read independently.
Shes been reading Ella’s diaries series which I think she’s outgrown in terms of reading.
So many books to choose..
I was thinking of some classics like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory….
i also loved the secret garden…

any Recommendations please let me know 😊🙏

some of Eva Ibbotson’s books are more for teens (I’m thinking A Company of Swans) so be careful which ones you choose.

Harry Potter? The first two are shorter than the others.
my niece loves the Isadora Moon books.
Jonny Duddle’s four Jolly-Rogers books build on The Pirates Next Door picture books.

The isadorra moon series

The Boy Who Grew Dragons series was a huge hit here, as were the Megan Rix books about historical figures and their dogs/cats. (They were better than I’m making them sound, honestly!) Greek Heroes series also currently being carried around and read every time we stop moving for 30 seconds.

Milly Molly Mandy, My Naughty Little Sister and Paddington are all good independent reads for that age.
