What age are the Trotter Street books?

Has anyone read the Trotter Street books by Shirley Hughes? I am wondering what age they would be suitable for? I have an eight year old niece who is currently reading Horrible Histories books and I wondered if they would be suitable for her or if they would be a bit young?

I would say they are a little on the young side for a confident 8 year old reader - she will probably whizz through them in ten minutes. However they are fun and if she struggles with longer books and big blocks of text they are fine. Good luck with getting hold of them though- I think they are out of print.

Thank you for replying. They may be better for my six year old niece then. I can get them as a 30th anniversary set at Waterstones.

Great for a six-year-old. Glad they’re back in print.
