Need some new books

Hello. We have all the Julia Donaldsons and been over and over them, and others here and there and in between. Tried diary of a wimpy kid but I don't think she's quite there yet.

Has anyone any suggestions for a 6.5 Yr old girl please, I'm interested to know what you're reading

Yeah Diary of a Wimpy Kid is aimed at older kids, 8+ I'd say. A very big leap from Julia Donaldson!

If you think she's ready for short chapter books though, Isadora Moon is perfect for this age. The Kitty series too (she's a superhero with cat powers). Does she like animals? Holly Webb has loads of lovely, easy reads about cats and dogs which are perfect for this age. The Jasmine Green series by Helen Peters are also lovely animal rescue stories.

Author wise, Dick King Smith is great for 6 year olds. Have you read her any Roald Dahl yet? The shorter ones are great for this age (George's Marvellous Medicine, Esio Trot, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Twins etc).

Wishing Chair and Mudpuddle Farm are big hits in our house at the moment.

I started reading famous five books to my daughter around that age I think and she loved them. Really improved her vocabulary too.

Thanks guys. I'll work my way through these. We've started the worst witch collection, bought phizz wizzers collection. That should do for now!

At that age mine loved Holly Webb, Lucy Daniels Animal Ark series (there's loads by both of these to keep her going if she likes those!) Also Marge in Charge series by Isla Fisher, Pugly series by Pamela Butchart.
