Help, perfect birthday present for 9 year old girl

Please help. I want to buy a birthday present for a very special kind girl who is 9 today. We didn't think we would be able to see her so it's a bit last minute. We have a small independent book shop in our town and I'd like to find her a lovely book that's full of hope and kindness. But maybe a bit different so not something she will have already read. She's always been a really good reader and is very grown up emotionally very supportive of her friends so could probably ok with a book aimed for slightly older children. Any ideas? Thanks.

I agree with the last two. My DD had a lovely illustrated copy of Heidi at that age .

Oh yes the Heidi trilogy (or is there a fourth, I can’t remember) would be perfect! I used to love those as a child and read them over and over again.

The Lost Words.

It's a truly beautiful book.
