Bought a Blue Kangaroo book for DD (2 years 4 months). She absolutely loves it, loves it. Thank you to whoever recommended it to me in a Mumsnet book thread - sorry can't remember who it was.

And the great thing is, they aren't too bad to read aloud for the millionth time in quick succession! Which one did you get?

Swedes · 25/03/2008 15:27

It Was You Blue Kangaroo.

So pleased that that your dd likes it. My fave is I Love You Blue Kangaroo. Must dig it out tonight

Swedes · 25/03/2008 15:36

Squeaver - Thank you. I might order I love you Blue Kangaroo from Amazon. I am very grateful. Mumsnet at its best.

DD3 and I also like I'll Show You, Blue Kangaroo.

slayerette · 25/03/2008 15:47

I'm so glad you discovered it - I recommend it on as many threads as I can too because ds loved it. We have most of them - look out for the Christmas one (Just For You, BK) which is lovely too.

collision · 25/03/2008 15:49

We love BK and read it regularly.

One of the author's other books is one with a character called Squill the Squirrel which is great too.

Cant remember the title.

lucymack · 25/03/2008 16:54

Its called Will and Squill.
If anyone wants this brand new of any of the Blue Kangaroo ones I can get them at a discount. Please email me at [email protected].

Emma Chichester Clarke is one of my favourite illustrators (she went to same art school as me you know

Fillyjonk · 25/03/2008 16:56

slippery slope you've started on there

MilaMae · 26/03/2008 18:55

You need to get the blue kangaroo soft toy my dd(3) loves hers takes it everywhere in a basket. Often hear her chatting to it saying "it was yoooooou blue kangaroo"

CorrieDale · 26/03/2008 18:57

Gorgeous books, aren't they? I love them myself and I'm a bit older than 2 1/2. In fact, think I'll google "blue kangaroo toy". For DD of course.

scottishmummy · 26/03/2008 19:03

they are beautifully written books gorgeous drawings too

Swedes · 26/03/2008 19:45

Slubberdegullion · 26/03/2008 19:48

Oh I love these books too.

A few weeks ago dd1 was naughty and sent up to her room and when she came down she had made me a card with sorry written across the front that she had meticulously copied from the last page of 'It was you Blue Kangaroo'. She is only 3.

I had a moment.

MilaMae · 26/03/2008 19:59

It was in the Blue Kangaroo gift set (board book and toy), they still sell it on Amazon, getting one for friend's dd,so have looked. You could get the set, keep the toy and give the book to somebody else if you already have it.

MilaMae · 26/03/2008 20:03

Just looked on Amazon but they only do used and new now cheapest £99!!!!!!!! Think Tesco online may do it, Waterstones have sold them instore and I've found them brilliant for ordering stuff so bet you could get one from there.

Klaw · 26/03/2008 20:15

We got a board version of I love You Blue Kangaroo out of the Library and renewed it twice so far.

So I've now got DD (33months) her own copy and will get the rest asap!!!

OMG, getting an actual Blue Kangaroo would be her dream come true!!!!!!!!!!

She was sat on my lap as I looked at the gift set on Amazon.

She said we 'must run to the shop!'

Swedes · 26/03/2008 20:37

Perhaps we should ask some of the craft ladies if they could make them - it's easy to buy blue felt from John Lewis and I'm sure they could copy the shape if we sent them a picture of blue kangaroo?

tescos do book & toy for £7.14.

Swedes · 26/03/2008 21:09

Oooh thank you very much.

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 27/03/2008 08:35

oh thanks collision

Klaw · 28/03/2008 12:23

Collision, is that Tesco Online or are they stocked on Shop shelves? I can't see any books online but Dp is tasked with checking out the various big Tescos in Dundee, and also Mothercare.

Thanks for your email Lucymack, will get back to you with requests in the near future! Have managed to pick up It was You Blue Kangaroo in library so will get a better idea of just how much she likes BK.

It's dd's birthday at the beginning of June so the squirelling away of stuff has begun already. Picked up a Tesco Kitchen worth about £25 marked down to less than £7 a few months ago!

mind you knowing dp he won't be able to wait till June if he finds a Blue Kangaroo toy! He picked up a huge teddy bear from a charity shop in early December 2006. Could he keep it till that Christmas? NO!

MilaMae · 28/03/2008 16:20

It's on the books bit online.
