Books featuring geese

Bit of a random one, but DC3 (7) has developed a sudden obsession with geese and is demanding bedtime stories featuring geese.

We have books with hens and ducks in, but none with geese in.

Could anyone recommend any children’s books with geese in?

There’s the Grimm fairy story about the golden goose. Everyone gets stuck to it, I think. There’s bound to be an usborne book with it in.
There’s also an Aesop’s fable about the goose that laid the golden egg.

edited as I mixed two stories up!

My sister used to love 'Borka' - about a goose with no feathers who wears a jumper.

Any Beatrix Potters with them?

Jack and the Beanstalk.

Charlotte’s Web would be great for that age; the geese are very funny

Oh and there are a couple of Dick King Smith books with geese but I can’t remember what ages they’re for

I was also going to suggest a Dick King-Smith one, The Cuckoo Child, I loved it when I was young.

That's a very cute obsession Grin

I'd also be tempted to print off some real life goose stories. He'd probably find it hilarious that they make good guard 'dogs'!

Yes, Dick King Smith!
The Swoose is about a half goose half swan.

Chocolate Mousse for Greedy Goose by Julia Donaldson. It's a lovely rhyming text with great illustrations by Nick Sharratt

There’s some great starting points, thank you all!

We do have a copy of Jack and the Beanstalk, but unfortunately in the version we have, the goose has been replaced with a hen 🙄

Probably a bit young for a 7 year old though, apologies I misread their age

Paul Gallico's The Snow Goose, of course.

But it's very sad and from what I remember, age 7 would be the very bottom of its reading age. Although a lot might go over DC's head, which would be fine.

I was going to suggest this one. Lots of opportunity for funny voices, nice and simple language for younger children.

Terry Deary's The Goose Guards, part of his Roman Tales series, it's a retelling of the legend of the sacred Capitoline geese, and how they saved Rome.
