Baby Book Ideas?

My youngest niece will be 19 months old on Easter Sunday. Rather than my four nieces getting lots of chocolate I tend to buy them a book for Easter (doesn’t have to be about Easter). Two of my nieces have always loved books and one struggles with books but enjoys having them read to her. The baby too like her two cousins is showing a love of books in that she will always bring books over to whichever of us is in the room to read. I would like to continue to encourage that so any ideas appreciated.

At that age, I’d heartily recommend:

Dear Zoo
Each Peach Pear Plum
Peepo
Slinky Malinky/ Hairy McLairy
Or anything by Julia Donaldson…

I’d go for board books if possible, as they are sturdier

Thank you I will look at those.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear - Eric Carle
Orange, Apple, Pear, Bear - Emily Gravett
are my fav board books for that age group

The Smartest Giant In Town is a great one for that age. It also pops up on theatre every now and then so could be a future idea to take them to see it if you live close enough.

How about Bathtime for Little Rabbit?

PamelaParis · 20/01/2024 18:16

My nieces have loved Oi Frog! and the other books in the series since they were about that age.

The Bear and Hare books by Emily Gravett
There's a Bear on My Chair and its sequels by Ross Collins
Also agree with everything @PiggieWig says!

Also, if she doesn't have The Tiger Who Came to Tea or We're Going on a Bear Hunt, she definitely needs those!

Sorry, I keep thinking of more! The books Julia Donaldson has done with Rebecca Cobb are lovely- there are 5 of them.

Thank you. More to look at.
