Can anyone remember this child's book?

I was born in the late 80s and remember a picture book I had as a small child that had the most wonderful, evocative illustrations of cakes and sweets. I've no idea what the story was other than remembering the illustrations of the cakes and sweets in a shop. A long shot but any ideas?!

The Elephant and the Bad Baby by Elfrieda Vipont, illustrated by Raymond Briggs, possibly?

i used to find it a bit boring to read to DC but the illustrations were great. There were definitely cakes. Beautiful cakes. Probably sweets too, but really, it was the cakes.

It's funny that you say that...that's actually the book that reminded me of the book I'm trying to think of!! I googled Raymond Briggs' other books to see if he illustrated the one I'm thinking of but he didn't 😟

I was reading it to my DD and suddenly got this image of the book from my childhood! Wish I could remember more about it!
