Halloween story time suggestions for 5 year olds

I’m doing a story time session for a group of 5 year old boys.
They’ve outgrown Room on the broom and Meg and Mog and are quite into ghosts and monsters so I’m looking for something a little bit spooky, funny or exciting (but not actually scary). Any Halloween favourites?

We love Meg and Mog so I have ordered Haunted House by Jan Kiensowski though I[m tempted to keep it for myself rather than letting a group of 4 year olds get their hands on it! Lots of other nice ideas here, thank you.

We have the Baddies and On the Way Home but we should reread them at Halloween time.

Hey! I have a very good recommendation. Hot off the press actually….the link is here to purchase. It’s a book called Turnip, it’s wonderful, the cat Pudding is my favourite character, I really think your children would enjoy this story.

let me know what you think!!

Maybe The Jolly Witch by Dick King Smith? It's not really spooky but it's a nice story set at Halloween!
