Every so often I think about a book I enjoyed many years ago about a young man entering a horse endurance race across Australia and used aboriginal skills to survive (I think) . His own mounts died or something and he had to finish the race using someone else’s horses called Gloria ,Sarah and Titch.
I have a vague thought that it was linked to another book about a young man on Shetland who has to go over to the mainland leaving his pony behind.
id like to read it again but can’t remember much else about it.
any ideas?
