When I was in late primary (so probably 1990-1993) I was allowed to choose a book for the school from a catalogue from a company like Penguin or Puffin. It was about a boy who I think was autistic, possibly called Adam. I think he didn’t speak and his mum got him a cat from a litter where the kittens were named from the military alphabet (so alpha, beta etc). All I remember is over time the cat helped him understand the world. I loved the book but despite googling can’t find the title. It was the first time I’d heard of autism - I was only about 10 or 11 when I read it.
any ideas?!
