Fantasy books for young teen?

Anyone have recommendations for fantasy books that are like lord of the rings for a young teen boy?

Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paolini (Eragon)

Discworld series - Terry Pratchett - Fantasy but more humour.

So many to choose from!
just off the top of my head some possible authors:

the Belgariad series by David Eddings is a fairly gentle 5 book quest with a male protagonist. I loved it as a teenager.

Rick Riorden’s Percy Jackson series

Eragon, Christopher Paolini

l also loved the Harpist in the Wind trilogy by Patricia McKillip at that age.

I've just written a book called 'The Land where No Dragons Live'.
It's available in paperback from Amazon now.
I wrote it for my own sons when they were that age and my daughter encouraged me to put it to paper.
I think your son might enjoy it.
