Hey, my little one is obsessed with Wednesday Addams, she loves (snippets) of her new series and I know they've done a small book on her, but would it be acceptable to send her as Wednesday for world book day at school? She's 6. Thanks

She's a film character, so it would be a no from me.

Benjispruce4 · 12/02/2023 20:28

I think the film is a 15 so doesn’t sound appropriate.

Needmorelego · 12/02/2023 20:29

There's many many books about the Addams Family (didn't they start as a comic strip?).
Encourage her to read a few.

Do it's fun to play dress up. My daughter is six and knows who Wednesday Addams is

Redshoeblueshoe · 12/02/2023 20:29

She'll be fine.

Needmorelego · 12/02/2023 20:32

Just checked....the characters started life as a comic strip in 1938.
Comics are reading. Comic Books are books.
Wednesday Addams for World Book Day is fine.

SnoozyVanWinkle · 12/02/2023 20:32

Nobody cares what they dress up as in my vast experience. Well not so much as nobody cares but people in schools are not over thinking what children dress up as or thinking bad of them.

There are always children dressed up as Buzz Lightyear or whatever.

She's only seen small snippets of the new Netflix series as I was watching it. Knows the dance off by hand but loves her style and asked if she could go as her for WBD. She hasnt watched the film Smile

@RenegadeMasterx you have to get her to watch the Christina Ricci as Wednesday films - especially the second one where they go to summer camp. Absolutely hilarious and total classics (they're PG certificate)

Oh superb! Where can I find them? Thank you xx

@RenegadeMasterx they're both on Film 4 on Wednesday (ironically 🤣)
Some of the jokes might go over your daughter's head a bit as the film's are from the 90s but they are classics.

It started as a comic, then book then programme.

It’s not a film it’s a TV series and it’s not a 15

love angry but uninformed people!

Benjispruce4 · 12/02/2023 20:57

@Wonderpoo I’m not angry. I was told last week that the new show/film is a 15.

Benjispruce4 · 12/02/2023 21:01

Just looked it up myself. It’s a 12 and a supernatural horror series in which Wednesday investigates a murder so hardly suitable for a 6 year old.

Needmorelego · 12/02/2023 21:02

The character of Wednesday though is fine for a 6 year old through the old comics, books, 1960s TV show and 90s films.

Needmorelego · 12/02/2023 21:05

@RenegadeMasterx there also is 2 animated films from a few years ago. I've not seen those so don't know if they're any good.

Trust me, you are judged if you don't dress as a book character

No one cares, nothing bad will happen, but it I'd noticed.

Every staff room comments on who ISN'T a book character

Rogue1001MNer · 12/02/2023 21:09

Is, not I'd

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 12/02/2023 21:11

my recent charity shop find!
definitely a book character.

why would I give a fuck what you think?

Wonderpoo · 12/02/2023 21:13

@Rogue1001MNer plus as a teacher you should know that Addams family started in print

Rogue1001MNer · 12/02/2023 21:14

I'm not a teacher, but thank you for your comment

Wonderpoo · 12/02/2023 21:15

Oh the horror of someone watching something above their age rating

Just looked it up myself. It’s a 12 and a supernatural horror so hardly suitable for a 6 year old

Wonderpoo · 12/02/2023 21:16

@Rogue1001MNer why are you hanging around in hundreds of school staff rooms then discussing kids? a TA? Even better
