Does anyone remember a story, maybe called 'The Burra' or 'The Burro' about a boy who climbs through a fence into a rubbish dump, but the rubbish dump immediately becomes an imaginary land that's alive... he meets a character that's basically a donkey called the Burra. But he's built of other things..?!
I can't stop thinking about it but I'm really unsure whether I've dreamt it up as I can't find anything online about it!!
