Recommendations of a 10 year old girl - fiction & history

Has anyone got any recommendations for a 10 year old girl?
I'm looking for a book or series (fiction) & also a history type book, perhaps with pictures but thats not a must.
She recently read National Trust: Step Inside Homes Through History that I saw recommended on here & thoroughly enjoyed it.
We've all the Harry Potters (she's not read them yet) and has read all the usual suspects Dork Diaries, Diary of a Wimpy Kid etc.
Thanks in advance!

Roman Mysteries
Lady Grace Mysteries (Elizabethan)
Cynthia Harnett The Woolpack (and others)

Leon Garfield might also be worth looking at.

Children of the New Forest

Eva ibbotson writes lovely books suitable for your daughters age

Try the Roman Mysteries series by Caroline Lawrence, starting with The Thieves of Ostia. A gang of children solve mysteries in Ancient Rome. Another good author for this age group is Lauren St John. There is the African series starting with The White Giraffe, and the Laura Marlin series, starting with Dead Man’s Cove.

There's the "My Story" series which are written like diaries, lots of different characters and time periods covered. Standalone but some have links (the Anne Boleyn era one is the diary of the daughter of the person who wrote the Catherine of Aragon one).

The Girls in the Velvet Frame is lovely too.

For non-fiction maybe if you can get some of the Dorling Kindersley books about times or events that she's interested in she might like those.

A Traveller in Time by Alison Uttley - might be a little young but enchanting.

My 10 year old DD has been reading the Breadwinner series by Deborah Ellis over the summer. She's really enjoyed it, it's fiction but she normally reads history non-fiction so your DD may like it too.
