Book for starting school

DS2 is starting Reception in September. I bought DS2 'Starting School' by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, which I really love. I'm struggling another book I love as much for DS2. I could just go for something else lovely but if possible I'd like to stick to school theme. I was thinking about 'Lucy and Tom at School', or maybe 'The Places You'll Go' - not school related but about growth and aspiration. Any other ideas?

Though that is more about helping them recognise their feelings regarding starting school

Our primary provided a booklet with a social story, photos of staff, building, details on their day and lots of positive info on the school.

This was produced by some of the parents with school support, just an idea for other school.

All the children got a pack on their visit day - the booklet, pencil, crayons and a name badge, I thought it was a lovely idea. Best of luck to your little one.

Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School

Cleversticks. It's about the first day of school and how different children can and can't do different things like write their name or fasten their own coat.

There is a Topsy & Tim Start School book.

Also the Clarice Bean one. Something like I Am Absolutely Too Small For School.

Tom and Small is a lovely picture book about being a bit anxious about starting school.

I've always found our local library really helpful for things like this. Take them along and if you can't find any books about starting school the staff may be able to make some suggestions
