Loved Michael Morpurgo - what next?

DS11 has read all of his books and loved every one. He wants to find a similar author but I can't think of anyone else of that ilk.

I think he likes a really gripping story, which is also realistic. Anyone who's got an older child who loved MM when younger, what are they reading now?

Just to clarify - I have an eleven year old and not 11 sons...Smile

Given that it was over a decade ago, I can't quite remember the ages mine liked the books, but they did like the Percy Jackson series and the young James Bond ones.

I would get him a library card and weekly library time.If he's able to read MM, he's old enough to choose his own leisure reading.

Thanks so much for all the recommendations. I absolutely loved Goodnight Mister Tom, that is very like Michael Morpurgo. Our local library is crap for this age bracket. So I tend to fill the bookshelf up and let him choose. Also have a DD (9) who loves reading so what he passes on she often picks up.

Just sat down to look these up - thank you so much, they seem to be exactly what I was after. I've ordered one book by each of the three authors.
