Ds 13 asked me to get him a Christmas themed book

He wants to get in the Christmas mood. When he was younger I would always have read him and dd a Christmas theme book in the couple of weeks beforehand but not sure at his age what would be good. Any ideas?

A Christmas Carol

or

The Jolly Christmas Postman Xmas Smile

Hogfather - Terry Pratchett
Lost Christmas - David Logan
After the Snow - S D Crocket
Prisoner of Ice and Snow - Ruth Lauren

As PP, The Dark is Rising. I always read it, as well as the Box of Delights at Christmas

Thanks everyone. He is reading A Christmas Carol in school for English but some good suggestions here.

Second the hogfather, I think he could really enjoy that. Good age for it

What about The Christmas Pig by JK Rowling amzn.to/3oPtcfT 📕

Or

The Christmasaurus and the Naughty List by Tom Fletcher amzn.to/30mvc5T

Box of Delights is wonderful if he will go along with the magic.
Otherwise Hogfather.

HumphreyCobblers · 13/12/2021 18:50

YY to The Dark is Rising . The Children of Green Knowe is also very atmospheric.

BlueChampagne · 14/12/2021 13:37

Totally agree with The Dark is Rising, Children of Green Knowe and Hogfather. Shouldn't be too taxing for a 13 year old.

How about Tolkien's Father Christmas Letters?

Dark is Rising (the actual book, which is the 2nd in the Dark is rising series). Very Christmassy. - Susan Cooper
Box of Delights-John Masefield
Wings over Witchend -Malcolm Saville
Winter Holiday-Arthur Ransome
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe- C S Lewis

Are the first ones that come to mind.
