I was listening to a radio program with someone talking about efforts to encourage children to read, and to want to read, and he pointed out something I hadn't thought of, but which should be obvious.
Of course it helps if the child sees the parent reading. But he pointed out that the parent has to be reading an actual, physical book. Because if it's just a matter of looking at an electronic device, the child won't associate that with books.
