Hi,

Not sure if this is totally the right place but any suggestions for a 13, coming close to 14 year old girl? Either a series or individual books? Dd was a huge reader until the past year and said she'd like to get back into it but she can't find anything she's really into. Any suggestions?

That sounds hopeful. What genre did she like before se paused, OP?

Zilla1 · 28/07/2021 22:19

Or what films and TV has she enjoyed recently?

Ricekrispie22 · 29/07/2021 08:43

Geek Girl
Girl Online by Zoe Sugg
The Selection by Kiera Cass
A Secret of Birds and Bone

Thanks for those suggestions. She's read all the Geek Girl books before but we might try some of the others. She said she thinks she'd enjoy a murder mystery. She tried an Agatha Christie that my dad had but she lost interest during it so not sure if it was that it was the style or possibly just that it was lockdown and she was fed up generally. It was Murder in the Orient Express and we watched the film quite recently and she absolutely loved the story so again not sure was it just the writing style or timing.

She might enjoy:
Ruby Redfort
Girl, Missing
One of Us is Lying
Good Girl, Bad Blood

Thank you both. Would you believe I asked her what one of her friends is reading last night as she's an avid reader and "One of us is Lying" was the answer so I think we might ease back in with that as they could chat about it and it might get her back into the routine. The bloody iPhone and lockdowns have a lot to answer for 🙄

My DD got back into reading with A Good Girls Guide To Murder. She is now hooked on one of us is lying.
