4.5 year old book reccomendations

As the title says I'm looking for books for DD starting school in September.

There’s a dragon in my school. It might be out of print but a lovely flap book for school starters.

For reading to/with her, or for developing her own reading?

My 4.5yo's favourite books are:
You choose
Topsy & Tim stories (as she can relate to the storyline, although she is growing out of them)
Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree
Dirty Bertie books

In terms of the books school are encouraging her to explore, they focus on stories with repeating words and phrases that she can begin to pick out. (They do phonics separately, home reading is all about developing a love for books, not reading yet)

DS is 4.5 and loves all kind of books although we don't have any particular favourites atm.
He likes Dr Seuss although we've had them since his third birthday and we read them a lot to begin with and haven't read them so much lately.
I second the suggestion of "You Choose".

I've had quite a lot of success with books off this list schoolreadinglist.co.uk/reading-lists-for-ks1-school-pupils/suggested-reading-list-reception-pupils-eyfs-age-4-5/ . They give a brief description, and I then pick which ones to order into the library to try, most have gone down well. (They also do more lists going up the years).

Otherwise, favourite authors for my DD aged 4 have included the Fairytale Hairdresser series by Abby Longstaff and the Winnie the Witch picture books by Valerie Thomas. If she gets into the Winnie books there is then an early chapter book series also about Winnie by Laura Owen you can move on to.
