Books for nearly 9 year old girl?

My daughter is in need of some new series, I think! She isn't interested (at all!) in Harry Potter. Has read every single Warrior Cats book, likes How to Train Your Dragon etc. Seems to prefer books that are focused on creatures rather than people, if that makes sense? Any ideas greatly appreciated!

I should state, her being a girl is utterly irrelevant - don't know why I put that in the title!

DD1 9 is currently reading my old collection of Animal Ark and Dolphin Diaries books, she's really enjoying them.

The Magic Faraway Tree collection and The Worst Witch were also favourites.

My 8yo DD is devouring the Roman Mysteries series at the moment.

What is her reading ability like? 8 years seems to be the cusp between the younger section and the preteen section in books shops.

@Aroundtheworldin80moves last parents' evening her teacher said 13+. She's very bright, but obviously I don't want her reading things that she's not emotionally ready for.

My ten year old is currently reading the Icabog (as are all her friends). Before that it was a book called the Snow Foal. Shes got The Explorer lined up next. Shes read Hetty Feather recently, and Malory Towers... books where there's been TV adaptations.

(When she was eight it was books like Zoes Rescue Zoo, the Jasmine Green animal books, Animal Ark etc. Might be a bit easy for your more advanced DD though)
