Can anyone recommend a children’s picture book on this theme? I’m sure there must be loads but I can’t think of one!

Horton Hears A Who by Dr Seuss.

Quite long but definitely on your theme!

The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright?

Thank you for these. I’m thinking maybe The Snail and the Whale

The Lion and the Mouse from Aesop's Fables.

The classic one is The Enormous Turnip (farmer grows a massive turnip, too big for him to pull it up, farmers wife helps, horse helps, dog helps etc. etc., but they can't pull it up until the little mouse comes and helps. Then they all sit down and eat a delicious dinner of turnip together).

You're Too Small by Shen Roddie?

What the Ladybird Heard (ladybird saves the day)

Stand Back Said the Elephant, I’m going to sneeze (mouse stops him sneezing and saves all the others)

Snail and the Whale is a good one as is Enormous Turnip

@Tittie - I think You’re Too Small looks ideal!

@rbe78 - I love the Enormous Turnip. I used to tell I it to DD, using the most ridiculous chain of animals pulling, until she finally came along and joined the chain. It was a great memory challenge as they all had to land on each other in the right order.

This made me think of The Shrinking of Treehorn, but that is more sympathetic to being small and frustrated than saying you can still make a difference.
