Fiction book about puberty

My son wants to read a story about puberty. I think something like Adrian Mole but with a better lead character. Any recommendations appreciated.

Hullo! The closest I can think at the moment are the Simon James Green books. Very funny and about awkward teenagers. I don't find the Adrian Mole books have aged brilliantly.
