Book recommendations/reading list for y8

Bidibidiba · 06/04/2021 22:48

I'm generally the one suggesting books for my y8 daughter, but I'm sort of drying up at the moment..

She likes crime/detective stories ("Murder most unladylike, Arsene Lupin...),
She likes funny or quirky books (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time , P. G. WODEHOUSE,..)

She likes the dystopian novel (read Fahrenheit 451, Brave new world, Animal farm, Hunger game)
She read and liked quite a few novels from Louis Sachar.

Any suggestions? Any favourites for early teens? Many thanks!

Hey OP, we're going to move this one over to Children's books for you now. We hope you get some great recommendations over there. Flowers

Agatha Christie or Sherlock Holmes?
Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching?
Has she read Mortal Engines?

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Adrian Mole
Lord of the Flies
The Fault in Our Stars
How to Look for a Lost Dog
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Shadow Jumper

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I'll look these up.

She's read Adrian Mole, a few Agatha Christie and the Hound of the Baskerville, and I had Lord of the Flies and Terry Pratchett on my radar, so this gives me a good start. Smile

My 8 yo DD is a huge reader we are constantly looking for new stuff. She likes an element of mystery, things she has recently enjoyed are the Lauren St John Laura Marlin mysteries, and and the Kat Wolfe series by the same author.
The Penderwicks series are a nice read.
And the Starfell books by Dominique Valente, the third has just come out. These are lovely
