Help me find

I'm trying to find the name of a book my mum used to read to me in the early 90s, although I suspect the book was older, it had pictures in it and all I can remember was that it was about a wolf who lived in a forest with his animal friends but then he decided to become vegetarian because he didn't want to eat his friends, he got sick and skinny and I think he left in the end.
My mum and I always used to find it very sad, we just cannot remember what it was called. It wasn't an easops fable as I specifically remember it being its own book, possibly about a4 size.
Can anyone help?

Thanks for your reply. I've just looked it up, it seems similar although the illustrations don't match what I remember, although maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

I've just watched it on YouTube with my toddler and I think that's it! I think I was remembering it wrong as there is a fox in it that stops eating meat. Thankyou! I'm going to message my mum now.
