Animal based stories for 9 yo

Dd has been a reluctant reader. But she's recently been getting into some a Michael Murpago books about animals. It's had an amazing effect on here reading.

I'm getting her:
Black Beauty
National Velvet
Island of the Blue Dolphins

I'm wondering about the Yorkshire vet books - I really enjoyed those around this age.

And other recommendations please? Ones written this century would be great

Michael Morpurgo's Kensuke's Kingdom has lovely detail about the boys relationship with his dog and Kensuke has orang-utans who are very close to him.

Lauren St John - The White Giraffe series of books. About a young girl who moves to South Africa to live on a wildlife reserve and discovers she has a special affinity with animals. There is a detective/mystery/adventure plot in all of the books, along with the stories about the animals. I really enjoyed reading these to my DCs

DD had an rspca series around that time that she really liked.
They were quite easy read chapter books.

Charlotte's Web! Beautiful writing but an accessible classic.

The Animals of Farthing Wood- my DD loved it at that age.

Nimm's Island is another.

Can you still get hold of the Animal Ark series (Lucy Davies I think?) I read these non stop at about that age.

Lucy Daniels. Animal Ark books are lovely. My 6 year old DS reads them :)
